MESOTHERAPY

Do you want to streamline your shape and sculpt your hidden curves?  The appearance of cellulite can be greatly reduced through mesotherapy.  Mesotherapy may be just the treatment you've been looking for.  Mesotherapy promotes the shinkage of fat cells, repairs damaged connective tissue, and enhances the elimination of cellulite over a series of treatments.  Each treatment consist of multiple injections of traditional medicine, homeopathic medication, and vitamins to not only eliminate cellulite, but also to reduce fat.  The medicines used in mesotherapy are FDA approved but are being used for off label indications.  This treatment, which we consider similar to liposuction, is a non-surgical procedure and requires no general anesthetics or downtime.

Originally developed in Europe, mesotherapy was introduced in the U.S. by Dr. Lionel Bissoon in 1999.  Dr. Harry G. Camper, III, was the first doctor certified in Virginia by Dr. Bissoon and offers this treatment under the Bissoon Institute guidelines.

What is Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is the breakthrough medical treatment that allows patients to have a non-invasive treatment to remedy a variety of conditions, including:

  • Cellulite
  • Unwanted Fat
  • Wrinkles and aging of the skin
  • Redundant (sagging) skin
  • Aged hands
  • Excess skin or fat on the neck

How does Mesotherapy work?

Mesotherapy is multiple injections of traditional medication, homeopathic medication, and vitamins into the mesoderm, or middle layer of skin, acting as a "medicinal bullet" that is delivered directly to a target in the body.  Orally administered medication, on the other hand, is distributed throughout the body. Mesotherapy allows a much smaller dose of the same medicine to be injected directly at the site of the problem, into the skin, with the skin acting as an efficient time-release delivery system.  Mesotherapy works by stimulating the body to heal itself in the targeted areas.

When will I see results?

Results vary based on your body type and the condition being treated, but on average, patients notice visible improvement in two to three sessions.  In some instances, patients see results after the first session.

Will the results last?

The results do last, especially when combined with exercise and proper nutrition.  However, we cannot stop the natural aging that affects your appearance.  For this reason, maintenance visits are recommended.

Are the treatments painful?

A slight pinching or burning sensation may be felt when the injections are given.  A topical anesthetic cream may be administered to make the treatment virtually painless.

Are there any side effects?

A common side effect of Mesotherapy is bruising, which generally resolves over one week.  To speed up the healing process, we recommend that the homeopathic supplement, Arnica, be taken either orally or applied topically on a daily basis.  Temporary soreness may also occur.

Are there any restrictions?

General restrictions vary with conditions treated and will be discussed before treatments are administered.  Patients are advised not to wear makeup for at least 4 hours after facial treatments, not to take hot showers for at least 6 to 8 hours, and not to exercise vigorously for at least 48 hours after Cellulysis treatments.  Prior to treatment, patients are recommended to eat a meal high in protein and to avoid caffeine.
